FASTR-Wellington (Fast, Aerial, Safe, Transport by Rail for Wellington) is keen to ensure fair and open communication about Wellington’s transport needs. We are a group of professionals and citizens trying to give back to the community our insights about shaping the future.  

Living in Wellington over the last 3 - 4 decades we have seen repetitive arguments about extra tunnels and heard platitudes about so-called ‘Light Rail’ and getting Wellington moving as though these words alone will transform the city. 

It takes more than words - we must learn from history, not persist in reliving it.

On present evidence, we feel Suspension Rail (pictured) is the best fit for Wellington’s transport problems.

Yet Suspension Monorail continues to be overlooked in favour of cumbersome options likely to cause more congestion during construction, and then provide a disappointing result after a prolonged period of development.
